Overview of Research Program

 

The Wu lab focuses on developing innovative synthetic approaches to natural products of bio-medicinal significance.  From strategy formulation, through execution, to obtaining the target compound, we aim for both efficiency and practicality in the way molecules are made.  The application of catalysis, photochemical reactions, and cascade sequences is central to our synthesis design.  New chemical reactions will be "invented" to solve challenges encountered during our research endeavor.  Beyond exercise in the fields of total synthesis and methodology development, we seek to apply our synthetic expertise to address interdisciplinary scientific questions.  Overall, our research program would provide excellent training in the synthetic chemistry discipline for co-workers interested in a research career in the pharmaceutical industry or academia.
